Hlauleka Secondary School, situated in Chokwe, Mozambique, presently comprises two classroom structures and two restroom facilities. Adjacent to the primary school, which currently functions as a hub for both primary and secondary educational needs, the secondary school site necessitates a comprehensive development initiative to optimize its functionality as an environment conducive to student flourishing and learning.

The absence of essential facilities such as a kitchen, dining area, and administrative building has prompted a concerted effort to secure funding for the construction of these vital structures within the school premises. Our studio project is expressly dedicated to the meticulous design and development of the secondary school, a collaborative endeavor involving our team and the invaluable insights of educators actively engaged in managing the Hlauleka School system.

Given the geographical challenges posed by excessive flooding and intense solar exposure, our design process has been underpinned by thorough studies. These investigations are instrumental in guiding each architectural decision, ensuring that our designs are not only aesthetically appealing but also attuned to the practical demands imposed by the local climate. Our commitment is to elevate architecture to its most utilitarian form, effectively addressing the unique environmental conditions prevalent in this region.
